holes Par 72 6082 Metres
Designed by Folco Nardi
and Mariano Benitez, Lauro Golf course is
located 1000 feet above sea level and set in the
most beautiful countryside. Lauro has recently
added an additional 9 holes to the course.
All the current holes
here are named after famous bullfighters, and
many fairways are defined by lines of olive
trees. With views of mountains to the north, and
the Mediterranean Sea to the south, the course
adjoins the protected forest area of the Sierra
de Mijas.
Lauro golf course is a
relatively flat parkland-style course. The
beautiful landscape inspires peace and quiet,
and the layout is a friendly one, even for
inexperienced players. The olive trees line most
of the fairways, and certain water hazards are
very much to the fore (on the 9th, 14th, 17th
and 18th holes) but never fearsome.
Never too demanding
with virtually no hidden traps (all hazards are
clearly visible), Lauro golf course is a very
honest layout. It is the ideal spot to assess
your current game, and potential to measure up
with players of a similar ability. The better
players can card flattering scores, and do their
ego a world of good.
Since opening in 1992,
Los caracolillos has hosted both the Andalucian
Junior Finals and the senior’s Finals.
The clubhouse is very
interesting as it is a 200 year old Spanish
Cortijo that has been restored to house a
restaurant, bar, pro shop, and offices, all
surrounding a lovely Spanish patio - the perfect
spot for after the game!
There are several water
hazards, including one at the 18th waiting to
catch golfers as they come home. Large greens
are well protected and are very fast. |
